Summary of Duties
Reporting to the Manager, the Supervisor will be responsible for providing supervision of the processes and related staff in the Medical Devices Reprocessing area and ensuring quality at each stage of the process


Specific duties include:

  • Supporting and assisting with staff activities to enhance consistent and safe practice and quality improvement in the MDRC.
  • Scheduling of staff, documentation of activities as directed
  • With the manager, involved in staff selection and performance evaluation processes
  • Responsible for staff training as directed
  • Involved in the development and implementation of new processes as directed
  • Implements and enforces policies and procedures.
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Be able to travel and work across MDRC sites at Bayview and Holland center Campus
  • Liaising with external vendors and service technicians to improve, upgrade and maintain MDRD equipment

Qualifications/Skills

  • Medical Device Reprocessing Certificate from a Community College or University program required
  • Demonstrated ongoing related continuing education and personal knowledge improvement
  • Working in a Hospital Medical Devices Reprocessing Department at a senior level required
  • Previous supervisory experience an asset.
  • A University Degree is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to produce documentation and reports.
  • Demonstrated superior experience and updated knowledge with multiservice instrumentation required
  • Demonstrated familiarity with daytoday operations, key processes including decontamination, sterilization, packaging and surgical instrumentation and supplies in an MDR department
  • Detailed knowledge of the machinery (Washer/Disinfectors, Cartwasher, Sterilizers, AER'S, Ultrasonics, and T-Doc Tracking System) in the Medical Device Department and troubleshooting and problem solving required.
  • Superior communication (oral and written), interpersonal, decision making, problem solving, time management, leadership, motivational and organizational skills required
  • Must be selfmotivated to deliver outstanding service to clients.
  • Demonstrated ability in team building, mentoring and coaching with staff, Management and the customer.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, implement process improvements, and project completion.
  • Ability to work varied hours, including weekends and nights and on call as required.
  • Must have a working knowledge of CSA guidelines on Reprocessing of Medical Devices.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize task, manage time effectively, and function well in a fast paced Trauma centre hospital.
