THE OPPORTUNITY - HOUSING SERVICES PRACTITIONER (F/T in Canmore and Banff)


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Providing direct support to persons with disabilities in various areas of interest, including volunteer, employment, independent living, recreational and leisure pursuits.
  • Supporting clients to explore, obtain and maintain employment.
  • Identifying behaviours of concern, developing, reviewing, and monitoring plans that assist individuals in managing behaviours or situations of concern.
  • Supporting individuals to know their rights, voice their thoughts and needs, and advocate for the services they require.
  • Providing client's support in home management activities such as meal planning and preparation, shopping and household cleaning.
  • Assisting clients in maintaining health by providing support in medical appointments and healthy eating education.
  • Providing assistance in developing life skills such as budgeting, and banking, etc.
  • Supporting clients to develop social skills, healthy relationships and make connections within the community.
  • Developing and maintaining a professional relationship with clients and their families, and community partners.

WHAT YOU BRING
We are looking to engage team members with diverse skills, experiences and interests.

These are some of the competencies and credentials we are looking for:


  • Well developed and effective communication skills (written and oral).
  • Demonstrated skill in critical thinking.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities is an asset
  • Diploma and/or Degree in Community Rehabilitation, Disability Studies or a related social science is an asset.
  • Advanced Class 5 Drivers License mandatory.
