  • Position Purpose:
    As the Director of Purchasing, you will be a Senior Leader and lead a large team of buyers in the execution of convenience purchasing supply chain strategies, supporting operations across all of Canada. Additionally, you will lead the development and execution of procurement strategies to deliver industry leading fill rates while balancing inventory investment. The ideal candidate will have a work history of continuous increased responsibility within procurement and be a champion of process improvement and employee empowerment. This position reports directly to the SVP of Canada.

    Compensation: $120-150K + 30% bonus

    Responsibilities:
  • Working Capital Management – Lead centralized purchasing team in monitoring and improving carrying inventory and aged inventory (180+ days).
  • Fill Rate – Lead team in developing a culture of tactical evaluation and strategic solutions leveraging K3 buying system to deliver industry leading fill rates.
  • Spoils – Execute and revise the existing strategy to prevent nonproductive inventory in Core-Mark facilities.
  • Operational Support – Partner with division leadership teams to develop and implement purchasing strategies that minimize negative impact to Core-Mark operations.
  • Customer support – Partner with regional and national sales to develop and exemplify an engaging culture of customer centricity for purchasing team.
  • Collaboration – Liaison with other Senior Leaders across Canada convenience to identify, design and implement additional tools and strategic initiatives.
  • Team Bench Strength – Identify and grow raw talent through direct coaching and stretch project assignments.
  • Culture – Build upon and exemplify a culture of empowerment, accountability, and servant leadership. Drive for constant improvement and have experience leading teams through change management.

  • Able to work independently and communicate effectively (written and verbal)
  • Proficiency in Excel, other Microsoft Office products, and Windows-based programs.
  • Familiarity or working knowledge of R6, AS400 and SAP highly desired.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of vendors.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of Procurement, Sales and Marketing.
  • Prior knowledge, or ability to learn about market trends, conditions, seasonality, perishability, and inventory turns expertise.
