    Do you have a passion for the outdoors and are looking for a career opportunity that allows you to utilize your strong leadership and customer service skills? Our Parks, Recreation and Culture department is seeking people like you to join the team as an Outdoor Leader 3 to help run summer services. This position involves planning and leading outdoor recreation activities for children and youth; activities may include hikes, canoeing, orienteering and archery. You will ensure a fun and safe environment while providing instruction to participants on how to safely use equipment and perform activities. Supervising volunteers will also be part of your role. Performs related work as required.

    Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by some post-secondary training in specialized community recreation courses, some leadership experience in an area related to the work; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. The ideal candidate for this position will be an organized individual with strong communication, teamwork and leadership skills, with the knowledge of specialized outdoor recreational activities. You are an enthusiastic and positive role model who has a genuine interest working with children and youth. Understanding of safety and risk management procedures is required, along with the ability to work independently and create working relationships with internal and external contacts. A valid First Aid Certificate, Emergency First Aid with CPR- Level C is required. Any specialized program certification such as Instructor Certification for Canoeing, Archery, and Wilderness First Aid are considered an asset. A Class 5 Drivers license is also considered an asset.

    Pay Rate: $26.18 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits

    Schedule: This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts vary depending on operational requirements and are scheduled on an as needed basis. Typical shifts are 5-7 hours in length, scheduled Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
