Job Description:


Using your strong attention to detail and analytical skills, the Data Analyst works with a variety of hospital information sources to extract, transform and analyze data.

Reporting to the Manager of Organizational Performance you will be surrounded by an engaged, highly motived team dedicated to evaluating hospital performance, identifying improvement opportunities, and supporting data driven problem solving.

Fostering relationships with analysts across the health system, you will develop expertise in health system datasets and data quality improvement processes.

A self-motivated individual with exceptional analytical and interpersonal skills will excel in this position.

As a Data Analyst you will:

  • Be responsible for working with departments to support the accurate and timely acquisition, reconciliation and validation of data as required
  • Develop reports using SAS, Crystal, SQL and other reporting solutions
  • Ensure accurate data submission to the Ministry is in accordance with provincial standards as required
  • Collaborate with team members in Finance, Human Resources, Quality and Organizational Performance as well as other key stakeholders to support continuous data quality improvement and data integrity between financial, statistical and clinical data
  • Manage changes to departmental business process rules and promote continuous process improvement
  • Coordinate, analyze, interpret and verify data as required for benchmarking initiatives and other external reports
  • Learn and share education and training on standardized provincial and national health system performance databases and systems
  • Partner with the Information Services program to extract and build dataset that can be leveraged to automate reporting, building analytical dashboards, and support advanced analytics opportunities

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a healthrelated field or applied healthclinical informatics or equivalent experience
  • Strong computer skills including MS office
  • Experience with coding and building queries using SQL, Crystal Reports and SAS programing an asset
  • Knowledge provincial and national health systems databases (e.g. Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), the National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS), National Rehab System (NRS), Ontario Mental Health Reporting system (OMHRS), Ontario Case Costing (OCC), Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS) etc. an asset
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a fastpaced environment while maintaining a strong attention to detail
  • Work independently with mínimal supervision and effectively as part of a work team
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
