- Provide operational leadership and advanced technical guidance to Traffic Signal Technicians, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support and mentor technicians in complex diagnostics, troubleshooting, and system optimization to enhance technical capability and service reliability.
- Lead daily operational planning, scheduling, and resource coordination to ensure service priorities, response times, and safety standards consistently achieved.
- Provide technical oversight and hands‑on support for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of municipal traffic signal and roadway electrical systems, ensuring high‑quality workmanship and operational efficiency.
- Ensure full compliance with electrical codes, OH&S legislation, and all applicable municipal and provincial regulations while promoting safe work practices in all field operations.
- Drive quality assurance by overseeing inspections, diagnostics, signal timing implementation, and system performance optimization.
- Identify operational risks and implement proactive maintenance strategies to protect and extend the life of municipal infrastructure assets.
- Establish and refine maintenance procedures and best practices to improve reliability, efficiency, and team effectiveness.
- Maintain oversight of documentation, inventory management, asset tracking, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Serve as the primary liaison with internal departments, contractors, external agencies, and the public regarding installation, maintenance, and operational concerns.
- Support emergency response coordination, after‑hours operations, and critical incident management when required.
- Demonstrated leadership capability with strong coaching and team‑building skills.
- Sound decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities in complex, time‑sensitive environments.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to identify operational risks and improvement opportunities in maintenance planning and execution.
- Strong technical knowledge of roadway electrical systems, signal control systems, and related equipment.
- Proficiency in digital documentation, reporting systems, and operational software.
- Flexibility to work, days, nights, weekends, or out‑of‑town assignments as required.
- Two‑year diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology or a valid Journeyman Electrician Certificate, combined with a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal traffic signal installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- IMSA Certified Traffic Signal Technician Level II
- IMSA Certified Traffic Signal Technician Level III (preferred).
- Master Electrician certification considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.

The Maintenance Supervisor, Municipal Traffic Signals provides operational leadership and advanced technical support for municipal traffic control infrastructure, including installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and optimization of traffic signal systems and related roadway electrical assets. This role focuses on resolving complex system issues, supporting technicians in the field, and ensuring the safety, reliability, compliance, and performance of all traffic signal operations while promoting a strong safety culture.
The Supervisor is accountable for operational execution, advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting support, regulatory compliance, asset integrity, workforce guidance, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders within dynamic municipal environments.
