Under general direction of the Manager, Administrative Services & Research, the incumbent is responsible for the financial and payroll administration of research accounts for principal investigators, processing payment transactions, auditing monthly statements to ensure the accuracy of documents processed, resolving discrepancies and assisting professors with their expenditure planning, including handling correspondence.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring, recording, reconciling and/or reporting on funding accounts for grants and contracts
- Tracking the financial status of accounts
- Processing payroll
- Processing expense reimbursements
- Overseeing daytoday operational needs of the unit
Essential Qualifications:
- Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum three years relevant financial and administrative experience in an autonomous, decision‐making position, preferably in a University environment
- Experience with financial and / or human resources information systems
- Excellent computer skills, including Excel (including creating and manipulating spreadsheets, working with formulas), Word (including word‐processing and preparation of documents of varying complexity), and Outlook
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial processing and skilled at resolving discrepancies
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and work environment
- Strong demonstrated understanding of financial accounting principles
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, prioritization and time management skills in order to meet competing deadlines
