    Description

    As the largest electricity distribution provider in Alberta, we are poised for growth with our dedicated FortisAlberta team exceeding customer expectations each day while prioritizing safety.

    Reporting to the Senior Lead Engineer Protection and Control, the Protection and Control (P&C) Engineer will focus on research, design, and development of protection devices, methods, and standards for various projects and asset maintenance.



    Responsibilities:

    - Develop, design, and test setting templates for protective devices to ensure compliance with industry standards.
    - Assist in testing and commissioning of protective relays while efficiently resolving concerns.
    - Support and maintain control devices in Microgrids, DERMS, ADMS, voltage regulators, and DVAR, ensuring effective design and integration.

    - Utilize engineering software to analyze data, facilitate project delivery, and resolve technical issues.
    - Contribute to the development and implementation of standards for wildfire risk reduction in high-risk regions.
    - Offer technical guidance on wildfire mitigation efforts and safety protocols.

    - Undertake special projects as required, demonstrating excellent organizational and time management skills.


    Requirements:

    • Strong knowledge of electrical protection design.
    • Proficient in using MS Office applications.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; Engineer-in-Training with APEGA and 3 years of engineering experience may be considered.
    • Experience with technical and graphical software is an asset.
