JOB SUMMARY
Daily work hours: 7:00 am

  • 3:30 pm
Position reports to the General Manager.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Production Manager is highly motivated and skilled in leading truck body manufacturing operations. They possess strong leadership skills, a proven track record in production management, and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes.

The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day production activities, optimizing efficiency, ensuring product quality, maximizing costs, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works independently, while often reporting to the General Manager to communicate relevant matters pertaining to service truck body production times, costs, or challenges.
  • Ensure production plan is met by working with the scheduling coordinator to create detailed production plans, shift schedules and utilize appropriate personnel for jobs, ensuring efficient workflows.
  • Develop and deliver effective communications with department leads, direct reports, and other internal/external contacts, as required.
  • Ensure employees have the proper training, skills, and tools to work safely
  • Develop team members by supporting professional development, providing regular feedback to promote the utilization of best practices, and completing performance reviews.
  • Ensure employees understand their duties, company policies, production timelines, goals and any upcoming changes or objectives.
  • Provide statistics and reporting to management/head office regarding production timelines, KPIs and milestones.
  • Work with QC; uphold our standard in product quality.
  • Work with the Safety Coordinator and all departments to ensure employees are provided with training on the proper use of any equipment, tools, or machinery. To uphold and
  • Empower and guide lead hands to adequately train employees, while providing lead hands with the proper tools, mentorship, and support to train their department teams. This may include providing production techniques, creating formalized training plans, and assisting leads by delivering excellent departmental training.
  • Monitor and manage employee relations, in combination with lead hands and the HR Manager.
  • Take ownership of coordinating all activities to achieve all customer deliverables. Review current state and put in place effective tools that provide visibility to manufacturing workflow, order status and identify key milestones.
  • Work with the Continuous Improvement Manager to lead LEAN initiatives throughout production departments; Motivate teams to make necessary changes by implementing continuous improvement visions, strategies, and initiatives.
  • Manage and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce costs, and maximize quality and value.
  • Work with production lead hands to promote a culture of highly motivated and engaged production floor. Be an inspiration, provide motivation and increase morale.
  • Make sure plant is kept at the cleanliness level that senior management requires, implementing new procedures if necessary

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- +7 years experience in production management, ideally in a manufacturing or fabrication facility

  • HET journeyman; welding experience an asset
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing project management and process improvement role, or 5 years experience in a leadership role with responsibility of a team of 20+ employees; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS

  • Ability to prioritize & manage multiple tasks with crossfunctional departments
  • Applied knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPS, or other continuous improvement methodologies in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to achieve results in a fastpaced manufacturing environment, with mínimal supervision
