As part of our Enterprise Consulting team in Calgary, the
Benefits Analyst will provide group benefits consulting support, including design, financial management and ongoing servicing for existing clients and prospects.

The Benefits Analyst will work closely with internal consulting teams, interface with vendors, support client deliverables, and ensure quality standards are met.


The Benefits Analyst will have the following responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the overall design and management of group medical, dental, life, disability and special risk benefits for clients.
  • Annual renewal analysis and negotiations with carriers; prepare client reports and presentations
  • Experience reporting, budget projections and reviewing plan financial performance
  • Conduct marketings; including preparing and submitting specifications, analysis, cost comparisons and recommendations on marketing responses, and preparing marketing report
  • Gather data and determine cost impact for plan design changes
  • Monitor carrier/provider services standards
  • Support the consulting team in preparing documents for client presentations and meetings
  • Participate in industry conferences, seminars, etc. in order to keep abreast of industry trends and activities
  • Build relationships with clients, carriers, and internal, crossfunctional teams

Other responsibilities may also include, as needed:

  • Conduct plan design benchmarking studies
  • Review all benefits documentation (contracts, booklets, collective agreement, amendments) for accuracy
  • Investigate and assist with resolving ad hoc claims and coverage issues for clients

To be successful in this role, you need:

  • Minimum 2-5 years' experience in group benefits
  • Knowledge of Canadian benefits industry and group benefits financial underwriting requirements for all types of employee benefits plans
  • LLQP, CEBS or willing to obtain
  • Advanced competency with Microsoft Excel
  • Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to manage and prioritize competing demands to meet client and company needs
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
