Job Summary:
Ownership of all aspects of cost estimating.


Required Education and Experience:


  • BS in engineering or equivalent and/or tool and die apprenticeship
  • Good understanding of shop practices, procedures and working knowledge of all phases of product manufacturing and assembly
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, and problemsolving skills
  • Good computer proficiency

Essential Functions:


  • Lead development of complete manufacturing and tool cost estimates
  • Identify cost opportunities and solutions necessary to meet the required financial targets
  • Provide cost direction to the design and development team
  • Prepare cost estimates based on preliminary engineering sketches and/or descriptive information
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Division to develop the most effective manufacturing process for both manufacturing and assembly
  • Conduct studies and analysis related to the total estimating function and recommends solutions to ensure most efficient process methods are met
  • Maintain cross reference matrix of cost estimates for historical reference and to enable short lead time cost estimates
  • Initiate and implement continuous improvement suggestions
  • Required to work extra hours and travel to meet Customer needs
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook

Work Environment:


  • Office Environment and Plant Floor (PPE required)

Physical Demands:


  • Effectively communicate with direct reports, associates, peers, and management
  • Overtime as required

Health and Safety:


  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
