Area of Responsibility:


Reporting to the Supervisor, Program Planning, prepares and maintains various geographical tools to support roadway infrastructure assets and operations, including graphic and attribute data, maps, mailing lists and statistics.


  • Maintain and update graphic and attribute data for roadway infrastructure assets and roadway operations and maintenance activities including seasonal operations, roads, sidewalks, multiuse trails, catch basins, storm sewers, etc. using geographic information systems (GIS) software, Microstation, etc.
  • Liaise with staff across the corporation to coordinate activities and assess requirements.
  • Perform measurements and statistical data as required.
  • Prepare maps, both digital and hardcopy for roadway infrastructure assets, operations and maintenance activities, etc.
  • Provide information to staff to support public inquiries, including aerial photos, property information, addresses and measurements.
  • Prepare mailing lists for notification of property owners and/or tenants related to infrastructure work, including leaf collection, property maintenance, etc.
  • Compile asset statistics related to roadway infrastructure including road network, urban storm sewer, bridges, culverts, etc. and provide to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist the Supervisor with selection and training of cooperative program students.
  • Perform similar and related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High School (Grade 12) graduation plus an additional program of over one (1) year and up to two (2) years in Civil Engineering, Architecture or equivalent.
  • Over one (1) year up to and including two (2) years of related experience in road infrastructure management and maintenance.
  • Member of the Ontario Association of Certified Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) is an asset.
  • Experience and knowledge using GIS systems and database software.
  • Experience in use of road analysis software would be an asset.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
