AIMCo's Private Equity team manages approximately C$13 billion of assets, comprised of a combination of Direct Investments and Private Equity Fund Commitments.

The team is seeking an Associate to contribute to the analysis of Private Equity investment opportunities across a range of industries and geographies, and to help manage the program's existing portfolio of assets.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Researching, examining, and evaluating new investment opportunities, industries, and strategies of interest, including for both Direct and Fund investment opportunities
  • Building complex and dynamic financial models to analyze Private Equity opportunities
  • Conducting public company and intrinsic valuation analyses, including comparable company, precedent transaction, discounted cash flow, and/or other valuation methodologies or metrics
  • Participating in due diligence meetings with management teams, Private Equity fund partners, transaction advisors, and other external parties
  • Assisting in drafting internal AIMCo investment memorandums, and participating in meetings seeking to update the team on, and seeking approval for, new investment opportunities
  • Collaborating with internal departments within AIMCo, including Legal, Risk, Valuations, Compliance, Sustainable Investing, etc., to ensure all internal processes are in place to complete investments once approval is received
  • Assisting with ongoing oversight and monitoring of portfolio investments and funds
  • Training and mentoring junior professionals, including Analysts and Summer Analysts on the Private Equity team
  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, or another related field
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in Private Equity, Investment Banking, Management Consulting, Transaction Services, or other related professions
  • Demonstrated interest in investing and analyzing businesses in various industries, and an advanced knowledge of finance, accounting, and economic concepts
  • Strong research, analytical, quantitative and problemsolving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to AIMCo's core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity and collaboration, and inspires the same in others

Success Measures:


You will have the opportunity to become well-versed in international Private Equity markets, develop an ability to critically analyze and evaluate new investment opportunities and funds, and build connections with top-performing Private Equity funds globally.
