- Safely support the lifeguarding of our waterfront and boating programs, including active supervision of their assigned area. Ensure guest safety by adhering to CNIB Lake Joe Waterfront procedures, and the standards of the Lifesaving Society, Ontario Camping Association, and public health.
- Support swim tests and the assessment the guests' swimming skills in order to assign appropriate swim bracelet.
- Energetically and inclusively facilitate and support waterfront and non-waterfront programming, as assigned, and adapt programs so that they are accessible for all participants.
- Assist guests by taking an active role in all dining room duties, including serving meals, meal set up and clean up.
- Provide support, guidance and leadership to volunteers, guests, and visitors.
- Set up the assigned program area and ensure that all required equipment and materials are available. Clean up the program after the program is completed. Report any low materials or issues with equipment to the appropriate program head.
- On a rotational basis, be part of the emergency response team, which includes being on call, present on site and available to respond to emergencies.
- Maintain documentation of any accidents or incidents and provide this documentation to the appropriate leadership member.
- A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
- Current (within 6 months of start date) Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR "C".
- Current Bronze Cross required (minimum).
- PCO (Pleasure Craft Operator) card an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including patience, empathy and communication.
- Experience in camp or other recreation programs an asset.
- Ability to work flexible hours in a changing and busy environment and work outside for extended periods of time.
- Accommodations are available on site – must be willing to share accommodations with other staff members and have shared washrooms.
- Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
- Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
