About the job:

The
Fleet & Maintenance Director is responsible for the overall direction and guidance of the management, planning, and strategy of all NCSG's fleet of cranes and Heavy Haul equipment.

This key role is crucial for ensuring the Company's equipment is maintained at peak performance levels, supporting operational efficiency, safety, and profitability.


Responsibilities:

Operational Efficiencies:Collaborate with the CEO and Operational Vice Presidents on the development of strategic direction for the equipment maintenance program. Implement strategies, monitor inventory levels, and negotiating and evaluating contracts with major vendors to optimize internal utilization and reduce operational costs.

Maintenance & Repair Strategy:Lead the improvement and execution of maintenance and repair programs, focusing on preventative maintenance, timely repairs, minimization of equipment downtime. Implement and oversee the development of a centralized maintenance schedule and tracking system.

Performance Measurement & Improvement:Develop KPIs for maintenance and repair operations. Use data analytics to monitor performance, identify areas of improvement, and implement best practices in equipment management.

Fleet Management: Oversee Company light vehicle fleet including high levels of customer service for operations requiring/using light vehicles, defining usage and allocation policies and standards, cost effective leasing/purchasing of light vehicles, and selling of light vehicles.

Budget & Financial Oversight:Develop and evaluate the maintenance budget relative to maintenance, repair, costs, and acquisition of equipment. Evaluate fleet performance and make recommendations for capital expenditures to optimize fleet efficiency and effectiveness.

Equipment Acquisition & Crane Disposal Programs:Providing oversight of the lifecycle of company-owned cranes, heavy haul vehicles, trailers, and associated equipment including procurement, acquisition, deployment, utilization tracking, and disposal strategies.

Vendor & Stakeholder Relations: Manage relationships with equipment manufacturers, parts suppliers, and service providers. Negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure the best terms and conditions for equipment maintenance and repairs.

People Management:Establish effective communication channels and collaborations mechanisms with internal departments and external stakeholders to address equipment needs and ensure responsive service delivery. Frequent travel to all Western Canadian branches to provide direct oversight, leadership, and guidance.


Qualifications:


  • Extensive experience in managing equipment assets, including maintenance, repair, and operational strategies, preferably in a leadership position.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective maintenance programs and strategies that reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven track record in building and leading highperforming maintenance teams.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and decisionmaking capabilities, with a focus on operational excellence and efficiency.
  • Proficient in the use of asset management and maintenance software systems.
  • Experience with hydraulic and conventional cranes as well as heavy duty tractor and trailer repairs and maintenance.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, NexGen, Access.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to branches located in Western Canada as needed.
