Kitchen Assistant and Dishwasher For A Licensed Child Care Centre


Duties:

• Assist the Chef to Prepare a variety of organic, healthy, natural and vegetarian dishes, from "scratch", limiting salt and sugar. No frozen, prepared, or fast food. Must be familiar with dietary restricted diets ie. wheat free, dairy and egg free, and vegetarian.
• Quality standards must be maintained.
• Assist CHEF with kitchen operations, including some food preparation, and plating
• Maintain a clean, sanitized and organized kitchen area. This position would include cleaning up food carts, rinsing and putting all dishes through the dishwasher and storing clean dishes appropriately. Must be able to lift trays full of dishes into and out of the dishwasher. Pots and some large dishes may need to be washed by hand.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulation

Requirements:

• Proven experience in a professional kitchen
• Able to follow direction and work well under pressure
• Excellent time management skills to ensure timely preparation of meals
• Ability to work in a fastpaced environment while maintaining attention to detail
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
• Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with our chef, administration and other staff members. Must be a "people person " as our kitchen is the hub of our Child Care Centre.

Are you friendly, love children and are able to focus on the tasks at hand. You must be able to multi task. A clean, sanitary and tidy kitchen is absolutely necessary with no compromise. Hours are 8 am to 3:30/4:00 pm daily. NO WEEKENDS EVER English, Portuguese, Hindi and Philippine spoken in the kitchen

This is a fast paced job, that follows a schedule for food service: a morning snack ( cereal, toast, pancakes etc.), a full course hot lunch at noon and an afternoon snack (fresh fruit, homemade hummus, veggies and dip, etc)


Pay:
$17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
