Atura Power owns and operates the largest fleet of combined cycle power plants in Ontario and will be an immediate anchor customer for low-carbon and green hydrogen.

The Project Manager, Hydrogen is an individual contributor who will work closely with other groups and leads from Asset Management, Operations, Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain and other internal/external stakeholders to support the development and execution of complex hydrogen production and development projects.


The Project Manager, Hydrogen will provide strong technical, project management, organizational, and communication skills and will develop the knowledge of the systems, processes and tools required to plan and execute complex hydrogen production projects.


General Information

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support and drive development of strategic hydrogen development project opportunities
  • Lead the planning and execution of projects in accordance with Atura Power's Project Management practices and procedures, including through feasibility, FEED, and detailed engineering design
  • Develop or coordinate investment valuations, cost estimates, decision summaries, and risk registers and assessments
  • Create project execution plans to encompass schedules, budgets, resource requirements, permits and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate or direct the work of external consultants and contractors
  • Provide leadership and influence in the continuous development of project management tools and processes
  • Lead and support technical collaborations with external partners (technology supplies, strategic partners, equipment providers, external engineering consultants, etc.) to advance the hydrogen projects
  • Experience supporting Process Hazard Assessments (eg. What Ifs, HAZOPS, etc.)
  • Provide onsite leadership and oversight to ensure safe and successful execution of projects and outages and other plant work
  • Provide support via technical oversight and design verification reviews to engineering design by third party consultants and equipment manufacturers
  • Lead the preparation and review of model reviews, calculations, design documents, and specifications, conceptual studies, designs, reports, and proposals
  • Make independent decisions and communicate recommendations to management and other affected parties in a way that fosters consensus and facilitates efficient outcomes
  • Challenge the status quo and bring a strong questioning attitude and innovative perspective to delivering complex projects

Qualifications

  • Exceptionally organized with demonstrated experience managing multiple competing priorities in a deadline driven environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to provide and present timely and relevant feedback/reporting to various stakeholders
  • Strong understanding and experience in the process of initial land assessments, permitting, engineering design progressive elaboration, construction and ultimately transition to operations
  • Working knowledge of Ontariobased HSE regulations and contract and legal agreement language, specifically pertaining to equipment supply, professional services, and project construction
  • Innovative, selfmotivated, professional, and able to work without being under direct supervision and contribute in a fastpaced, multidiscipline team environment
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Good judgment and decisionmaking abilities
  • Ability to work independently to organize, plan, coordinate, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously including providing daily field support
  • Ability to exercise leadership without formal authority and have demonstrated leadership skills for delegation, negotiation, influencing, and consensus building to coordinate work to meet objectives
  • Ability to be agile and embrace and lead change

Education/Experience

  • University degree in related field and P. Eng. license with Professional Engineers of Ontario
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of progressive relevant field experience in power generation, oil & gas, or major infrastructure projects (e.g., new installations, commissioning, operations, and/or maintenance)
  • Project Management Professional desired
  • Direct hydrogen processing, compressing, and transporting experience is considered an asset
  • Direct Maximo experience is considered an asset
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license
