Description

The Procurement Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the administrative aspects of procurement and advertising functions within the Horizon Marketing Department.

The focus of this position will be to gather, organize, vet and verify information pertaining to new products submitted to Horizon and its subsidiaries, and solicit and arrange for supplier advertising and support incoming suppliers.


SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:


New Products Coordination:


  • Works with suppliers to gather all necessary information and samples related to new product presentations; screens products by reviewing samples and listing documents, and supports suppliers and brokers through the listing process.
  • Provides complete information to Senior Director and others after gathering information.
  • Works with Horizon's Regulatory Specialist to ensure products meet ingredient and Canadian Food Inspection Agency requirements.
  • Supports procurement decisionmaking by providing category and sales data.
  • Conducts followup and coordination with other areas of the business (usually Purchasing & Sales) as required once decision is made.

New + Emerging Supplier Support:


  • Responsible for onboarding new, emerging suppliers to Horizon. Acts as main contact for new suppliers. Vets questions and directs to appropriate staff member if required.
  • Provides new suppliers with the Horizon Onboarding Document, educates and addresses questions.

Trade Shows:


  • Meets with brokers and suppliers at 12 annual trade shows to receive information about new products. Follows up with brokers and suppliers postshow to gather information to present to Procurement Team

Ad Solicitation and Coordination:

  • Contacts suppliers and brokers to book advertising in Horizon and subsidiary publications.
  • Follows up on advertising booked by Supplier Relationship Managers.
  • Tracks advertising revenue and submits to accounting for processing.

Other duties:


  • Staff Events: assists People + Culture as requested to implement events for staff, particularly by securing product from suppliers and brokers.
  • Office display shelf: Maintains product placement on display shelf to highlight new products to Horizon staff.
  • Miscellaneous projects and tasks as assigned by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS + EXPECTATIONS:


  • Very strong organizational skills, both in daily work and in supporting events.
  • Advanced knowledge of, and experience with, MS Office, including One Drive, Outlook, Teams.
  • Must possess advanced Excel skills, including, but not limited to, V-Lookup, Concatenate function, Pivot Tables.
  • Professional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Comfort communicating in a professional manner with external business partners.
  • Strong attention to detail and followup.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Industry knowledge (including product knowledge) is a key element of this position.
  • This position requires a great amount of tenacity and tact, as there is a heavy emphasis on followup work.
  • Experience with QlikView software is an asset.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and manage high volume of information.
  • Ability to diligently follow processes and procedures.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This is a full-time position (Mon-Fri) based out of our Burnaby office. There is an opportunity for a hybrid schedule following the onboarding and probationary period. Depending on the applicant's experience, the wage range is $ / hour, plus benefits after a waiting period.
