Technical Advisor - Journalism

$ $31.22 per hour
What you will do:
Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Technical Advisor supports students and faculty in the Humber Journalism programs. This includes building and delivering workshops in various newsroom skills including, but not limited to, WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite (with an emphasis on InDesign), Camayak (newsroom Content Management System), PDF hosting site
Issuu, and various mobile/browser-based reporting tools.
This role requires direct work with students and faculty to conceptualize, create, edit, and publish content for publications, including Et Cetera, Humber News, Convergence magazine and Scribe magazine.
It also involves consulting with other parties (including other programs and work study students) who are partnering with journalism for special projects.
The technical advisor oversees websites related to Humber Journalisms many publications, which includes management of domain/hosting services, updating core website functionality, managing users/access and setting up new websites for faculty to use in classrooms settings.

What you bring to the role:
Education:
Undergraduate diploma or degree in a related field.
Experience and Skills:
Experience in a newsroom setting (including university press newsrooms). Web development experience is an asset.
