Description
Fireball Equipment is looking for an intermediate-level Project Manager to join our Industrial Projects team.

The Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of our Fuel and Lubrication projects, from inception through to closeout.


Our typical projects range from $100K - $4M and last anywhere from a few weeks to over 1 year in duration.

The PM's commonly manage 3-8 projects concurrently and work in a functional-matrix project structure.

As a PM, you are used to dealing with unique issues that do not fit a well-defined "job description".

However, there are many items that you will be responsible for, including:


  • Ensuring the project objectives are met: on time, within budget, and according to specification
  • Developing and maintaining the Project Management Plan, adhering to it throughout the project life cycle
  • Managing the customer relationship as the single point of contact for Fireball Equipment
  • Developing and maintaining the project schedule in alignment and collaboration with the master Operations schedule
  • Breakdown of project tasks for the engineering and production teams and monitoring the completion of each task in alignment with the project schedule
  • Arranging and coordinating material procurement, subcontractors, field and shop labor
  • Managing documentation deliverables in alignment with the scope requirements
  • Assessing and monitoring project risks
  • Change management
  • Project Cost control and forecasting
  • Project Reporting internally and externally
  • Milestone billing and invoicing
  • Arranging for shipment and delivery of the project
  • Site visits as required
  • Review and approval of vendor invoicing
  • Project Closeout and Final Documentation

Qualities and Experience:


Reporting directly to the Project Management Manager, you will be integrated within a multidisciplinary team of Engineers, Technicians, Subject Matter Experts, and other Project Managers.

Successful teammates in this role possess a proactive mentality with a high sense of urgency. You need to think on your feet and be a proven problem solver. This position is not for the faint of heart.


We are looking for someone who is technically fluent and preferably has a strong knowledge of the design, assembly, and construction of fluid systems.

Understanding pumps, piping, hydraulics, and process control equipment related to bulk fuel and lubrication packages is strongly recommended. Previous experience in the Alberta Oil Sands and/or Mining sector is considered a strong asset.


Other Qualifications are:

  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) or a minimum of a CAPM is preferred
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma is considered an asset
  • 35 years managing multiple concurrent midsized projects ($100,000 $1,000,000)
  • You must be proactive with the ability to influence project stakeholders without direct authority
  • Organization, planning and multitasking skills are critical for this role
  • Thrives in a team environment. Very little of this role is independent work
  • Work is primarily computer based so strong skills in various Microsoft programs such as Word, Outlook, and Excel is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV would be an asset
Some additional requirements for this position are as follows:

  • There may be requirements to travel to project work sites on occasion
  • Ability to understand, write, and communicate fluently in English is required.
