Starboard Seafood is a leading importer and distributor of superior-quality, responsibly sourced fish and seafood from around the world, delivered across Canada.


Responsibilities:


  • Manage employee onboarding process as well as coordinating training.
  • Manage employee termination process
  • Develop and implement HR processes and procedures.
  • Manage the annual certification program for all employees.
  • Provide consultative support and solutions on all people related matters including, but not limited to employee relations, performance issues, etc.
  • Preparing or updating employment records related to hiring, transferring, promoting, and terminating.
  • Coach and advise managers and supervisors on how to provide quality, timely, and consistent performance management reviews, as well as support ongoing performance recognition and, if necessary, disciplinary action.
  • Participate in job evaluations, salary recommendations, and market analysis.
  • Maintain organizational charts and detailed job descriptions along with salary records.
  • Stay uptodate and comply with changes in labor legislation.
  • Supervise safety policies and training to ensure compliance and consistent and effective implementation.
  • Administrate workers' compensation in order to ensure timely accident investigations and proper filing with the Insurance Carrier, as well as to facilitate the employees return to work.
  • Oversee employee retention, including the development and implementation of retention programs, as well as the conduct of effective exit interviews and analysis.
  • Maintaining employee records, including but not limited to attendance, vacation, and sick leave records.
  • Conduct a wage survey within the labour market to determine competitive wage rates and make any necessary recommendations.
  • Administrate benefits for all employees, including, but not limited to, responding to benefit inquiries, reconciling insurance bills, maintaining benefits brochures, and acting as the liaison between the company and the benefit provider.
  • Identifies process inefficiencies and makes necessary improvements.
  • Create and maintain job descriptions.
  • Assist in the management of the Payroll Administrator.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • 3+ years of previous HR experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Bilingual (English /French)
  • You are a positive and selfmotivated individual who enjoys working in a fastpaced environment.
  • You are a selfstarter with a high level of initiative and professionalism.
  • You excel in problem solving and possess strong project management skills.
  • You have the ability to prioritize, multitask and work well with mínimal supervision.
  • You display strong communication and interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • You have the ability to work independently as well as work collaboratively across multiple functions.
