About the Opportunity


Based at the Vancouver campus, the Career Services and Experiential Learning Specialist supports co-operative education, experiential learning and career development programming for students studying in graduate degree programs.

These programs include Master of Science in Computer Science, Master of Science in Data Analytics Engineering, Master of Science in Information Design & Data Visualization, and Master of Professional Studies in Analytics.


Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include;

Developing and delivering career development and experiential learning programming: creating, delivering and evaluating seminars and workshops, networking events, and programs to meet evolving and diverse career development needs of graduate students;


Planning, development and administration of the co-op program: working with the partnerships team to facilitate co-op and post-graduation employment opportunities; coordinating co-op preparation, goal-setting, work term support, reflective learning, and employer feedback; collaborating with academic advising and other student services teams as needed.


The Specialist monitors labour market trends to help shape priorities for the development of new programs and services and manages the administration of systems for a range of experiential learning opportunities, including input and management of database information and other administrative duties.

These may include the analysis of career development and co-op data, contributing to data-informed strategic planning, and providing input to impact reports as required.

On occasion, evening and weekend hours will be necessary.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred
  • Experience in career services, cooperative education, or human resource development, especially in technologyrelated fields
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching and advising students through 1 to 1, group and dropin sessions.
  • Demonstrated credibility with corporate clients; strong presentation and consulting skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with diverse constituents.
  • Excellent skills in relationship building, event planning, marketing, public relations and database management.
  • Goal oriented, highly organized professional with a high standard of customer service.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equitable diversity, antiracism, fostering a community where everyone feels a sense of belonging, and actively taking up the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action
  • Experience supporting the career aspirations of international students, newcomers, people with disabilities, women in STEM, and careerchangers.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, Airtable, Simplicity, data management and analysis are assets.
