Learning and Development Specialist
***The Learning and Development Specialist provides training and development support for NFI Learning Institute with design, development of training programs/courses and business development needs. This position will be focused on development and training for our Leadership teams.


WHAT YOU WILL DO:


  • Consults with and supports business units/departments and Human Resources to identify, plan and implement resource selection, training and development requirements as driven by the strategic performance needs of the organization.
  • Researches, designs, implements, and maintains standardized, comprehensive training and development programs and documentation based on identified organizational and affiliate needs, changes in culture, products, procedures, and services.
  • Presents training to all levels within the organization or externally as required.
  • Negotiates training programs, sources materials and delivery methods.
  • Performs or supports the efforts of others to design, develop and instruct curricula (classroom or onthejob) utilizing instructional design techniques, including use of learning objectives, lesson plans, teaching aids and assessment materials.
  • Analyzes performance measures to identify training opportunities and to assess the impact of training.
  • Analyzes measures of performance (MOPs) relevant to the area of specialization, root cause and determine if relevant training interventions are necessary.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of applicable training effectiveness methods such as evaluation, validation, and cost benefit analysis to set and meet training performance goals.
  • Maintains a training inventory, schedules courses, develops course outlines, manuals, training aids and documentation in conjunction with curriculum designers.
  • Identifies, develops, and monitors resources required to assist in the classroom and/or onthejob training process.
  • Administers and maintains various contracts and programs from outside training service providers.
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • University or college degree in Management/Organizational Behavior, Adult Learning, Organizational Development or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a training role with a focus on multi facility/organizational and operational development.
  • Previous experience providing training delivery in a unionized environment would be an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with the instructional design process.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Preference for working in teams in a functional matrix structure.
  • Excellent Presentation and classroom teaching skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements, quality standards and administrative policies and procedures.
  • Up to 5% of travel is required for this position._
