WHAT THE ROLE PROVIDES YOU:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implementation of all strategic marketing communication and development plans including everyone belongs
  • Manage the internal communication department's events program and overseeing the coordination of a variety of events including; Vipond Golf Tournament, Stampede Breakfast, Inclusion Awards, Casino, Learning and Leadership training events with external partners, and hiring fairs
  • Establishes and monitors the budget(s), set with Finance, to support these events
  • Work jointly with other departments when necessary to support the DDRC's fundraising strategy
  • Work closely with the DDRC's communication department to produce fundraising related communications, including the Annual Report agency newsletters and enewsletters
  • Work collaboratively with the communications team
  • Take a leadership role with event committee(s)
  • Facilitate creative and critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Communicate confidently with staff, clients, volunteers and other agency stakeholders
  • Conduct screening interviews with potential volunteers and provide supervision for the volunteer assignments
  • Take direction and work efficiently with mínimal supervision
  • Liaise with event suppliers, including exhibition builders, caterers, invite and liaise with speakers, exhibitors and delegates, to overseeing the smooth running of events both on and off site
  • Maintain detailed and accurate event files, e.g. exhibitor databases, recording contact and financial information.
  • Use organizational and information management skills while performing daytoday responsibilities
  • Report and update management and/or other stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Assist with fundraising strategies and support all aspects of fundraising programs
  • Coordinate delivery of materials to events
  • Develop and implement marketing plan(s) for events and the volunteer program
  • Supervise the development and production of promotional materials and presentations
  • Identify new donors and grant opportunities and organize initiatives to solicit funding
  • Raise awareness of fundraising campaigns and volunteer opportunities, both internally and externally
  • Accurate and timely record maintenance for donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders
  • Responsible for the continuing development of the volunteer program, with the guidance of the Director of Organizational Effectiveness and the CEO
  • Schedule and supervise volunteers
  • Orientation and support for volunteers as needed
  • Produce regular progress reports to the CEO, or designate
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed under the CEO

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Takes accountability to ensure all mandatory certifications and training are kept current
  • University or college education in English, communications, marketing or related fields is preferred
  • Strong Event Management experience
  • Exceptional reading, writing and speaking skills are essential
  • Existing networks in community will be considered an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office, with particular emphasis on Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with social media (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc.) is an asset
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Superior time management skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with mínimal supervision
