Description

To develop, implement and lead the Quality Assurance program to ensure that the company meets or exceeds the goals and customer requirements.

Focus areas include leading the Quality Management System, product design and development quality, Production and supplier Quality, Product quality and customer satisfaction process.

This position reports to the General Manager.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Quality Assurance

  • Responsible for the overall development, implementation, direction, coordination, and evaluation of Quality Assurance/Quality Control, and Document Control processes
  • Implement and manage the ISO 9001 Certification Program
  • Creation and retention of quality and company procedural documents and includes training process to ensure employee compliance
  • Manages and performs internal quality audits at the site
  • Management of the Corrective and Preventive Action System
  • Interacts regularly with all departments to establish and maintain quality standards
  • Communicate to the Leadership Team improvement ideas, status of projects and other information needed for success.
  • Responsible for all quality metrics including Customer Quality, Supplier Quality and internal quality Assurance and control activities.
  • Product Design and Development
  • Participates in the new product development process to execute initiatives (procedures, identifying critical to quality requirements, sampling, process controls, certifications, documentation and version control)
  • Implement Software, Hardware, Mechanical design, labelling, and literature Quality Assurance processes to ensure products meet specifications
  • Ensure any applicable standards requirements are accurately reflected in product designs
  • Support in the coordination and execution of external agency inspection audits
  • Participates in the ECR and ECO (Engineering change requests and orders) process to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction
  • Make decisions using Acceptance Criteria and Product Specifications regarding quality of the products
  • Coordinate product testing support for the organization;
  • Production & Supplier Quality
  • Ensure the supplier is able to meet customer expectations in regard to Quality compliance and delivery performance
  • Ensure suppliers meet documented requirements
  • Communicates with suppliers concerning PPAP and CI activities
  • Interact with Manufacturing to ensure inprocess quality requirements are met and applies corrective and preventative measures to ensure quality improvement
  • Oversee capability studies on manufacturing equipment and quality outcomes
  • Regulatory Certification Maintenance
  • Maintains an understanding of all certifying agency standards that are applicable to the company's products
  • Coordinate and receive external agency inspection audits;
  • Ensure any applicable standards requirements are accurately reflected in product designs
  • Validate certification testing to ensure compliance and approval from governing bodies (ANSI, CSA, NSF,UL) as required;
  • Product Quality & Customer Satisfaction
  • Lead the process of customer interactions on all Quality related issues from containment to root cause to corrective and preventative action
  • Champion the position of the customer at the site for all processes including the leadership of comprehensive internal customer quality reviews

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related engineering, manufacturing, or business area

MIMIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 5 years of experience with the use / implementation of Total Quality concepts in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 5 years electronics & management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering, lean six sigma, and quality principles, concepts, practices, and theories.
  • Computer proficiency on Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work with Customer/Supplier representatives for all quality related issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills with focus on detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills essential to connect with audiences that vary from employees to leadership; from direct reports to peers; from customers to suppliers; and regulatory agencies.
  • Regulatory experience such as CSA and UL required
  • Knowledge of Inspection and Quality Control Methods, techniques and equipment used in a manufacturing environment

  • ISO 9001 Implementation
  • Lead Six Sigma Black Belt Certification

  • Ensure company policies including quality assurance policies and programs are followed
