Under the guidance of the Military Police Shift Supervisor, the MP Dispatcher is responsible for prompt emergency and non-emergency Police response.

They are also responsible for proper documentation of all calls, starting the CAD in SAMPIS for patrols in accordance with CF MP Gp Orders, issuing keys and monitoring alarms/cameras.


As a detachment second in charge you will be sought upon to fill in while the det commander is away and expected to have a good knowledge of CFB Comox and the areas serviced by commissionaires, you will at time liaise with the client and deliver excellent support to the guards employed within CFB Comox.

The Second in charge will be responsible to ensuring scheduling of guards is accurate and that all position are properly filled while the detachment commander is away.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Become conversant with WSOs, Wing Fire Orders, Commissionaire Policy and Procedures Manual and these Post Orders.
  • Provide building security during normal silent hours and in the absence of firefighting personnel.
  • Ensure only authorized personnel have access to the fire hall and the alarm room.
  • Conducting the radio dispatching of fire hall personnel and equipment.
  • Responding to telephone calls, including Emergency 911 service call.
  • Monitoring of the 19 Wing Fire Alarm system, including any remote alarms.
  • Initiating inhouse alarms, in response to telephone calls and/or external alarms.
  • Monitoring designated FM radio channels.
  • Maintaining a record of times and events as they unfold when Fire Hall resources are deployed.
  • Action Senior Fire Fighters order's as directed.
  • Making PA announcements as required.
  • Completing computer generated forms/reports as required. (IFSMR, Emergency Response, and VOR reports).
  • Controlling access to the Key Press and maintain the key register.
  • Maintaining the daily Fire Department Log Book.
  • Notwithstanding the above, Duty Cmres will follow any additional orders and directions given by the WFC, DFC and Cmre Det Cmdr.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of the Commissionaire Qualifying Course.
  • Successful completion of the Commissionaire Supervisor Course.
  • Must have Level II (Secret) security clearance issued by Public Works and Government Services Canada be on the VCR.
  • Ability to adhere to strict Confidentiality requirements.
  • Proven ability to respond to changing situations.
  • Ability to use proper radio/telephone communication procedures.
  • Ability to use and monitor alarm/CCTV equipment

RATED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of military writing an asset.
  • Liaise effectively with various agencies within the Military
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated ability in analytical thinking and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability and flexibility to deal effectively and efficiently with rapidly changing situations.
