Job description

We are seeking a skilled developer to build a custom integration between our Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP (Sales Orders) and our 3PL warehouse using API via CSV format.

The integration will support the exchange of Sales Order standard data to 3PL to ship the order, and receiving tracking #s back from 3PL automatically.

Scope of Work:

Integration Requirements:

• Map and transmit standard Business Central fields (e.g., Sales Order Number, External Document Number, Shipping Details, SKU, Quantity) to corresponding fields required by 3PLs API system.
• Process inbound tracking data from the 3PL and update Business Central Sales Orders with tracking information.

3PL Extensiv CSV Format:


Custom Reference Table:
Create a reference table within Business Central to store customer-specific shipping data, including:
- Shipper Name + address
- Carrier Third-Party Account Number (the output value would be based on BC customer and carrier)

• This data will be referenced and included in the outbound document to 3PL where applicable.

Sales Order Enhancements:

• Add a custom checkbox field ("Submitted to 3PL") on the Sales Order page, or another way to trigger the system that the order was submitted to 3PL so it does not get sent again.
• This box will be automatically checked once the Sales Order has been successfully transmitted to the 3PL.

Workflow & Automation:
The integration script will run every 30 minutes and identify Sales Orders that meet all of the following criteria:
o Status = Released
o "Submitted to 3PL" = False
o Item Line Location = PPFL

• Orders meeting the criteria will be exported, mapped to the specific API format, and transmitted to the 3PL electronically via API
• If transmission errors occur, an email alert will be sent out , including the affected Order Number and the error message, as well a notification will be displayed in Business Central Notifications section.

Inbound Tracking Handling:

• The script will listen for incoming ship notice data.
• Upon receipt, the tracking number will be matched to the corresponding Sales Order and populated into the "Tracking Number" field automatically.

Ideal Candidate:

• Proven experience with API integration.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central development (AL, extensions, custom tables/fields)
• Familiarity with working with 3PLs and shipping workflows
• Attention to detail and proactive error handling
