    Northern College is seeking a Skilled Trades Worker – Electrical in our Plant and Property department. The successful
    candidate will possess good preventative maintenance skills. The incumbent will be expected to work independently and with other team members, and to a superior safety standard at all times. In addition, a Gas Fitter 2 license and experience with Building Automation Management software would be considered an asset.

    Reporting to the Manager, Plant and Property, the successful incumbent will carry out skilled work in the electrical trade and in the general upkeep, maintenance and repair of campus buildings and equipment, and installs new building services and systems, ensuring that health and safety standards are met in the operation and control of building systems.

    What you will be doing:

  • Keep the campus's mechanical and electrical systems operational;
  • Plans technical requirements for installation of new electrical wiring and equipment;
  • Contacts suppliers and contractors and schedules maintenance and visits as needed;
  • Maintains/repairs damaged or deteriorated interior and exterior building finishes through demand work orders or planned preventative maintenance; and
  • Performs general grounds keeping duties.

    What you will need to be considered:

  • Two-year diploma in Electrical Technician or equivalent/related field;
  • Provincial Trades Certificate in the trade of Construction and Maintenance Electrician, with a provincial endorsement in the field of Electronics;
  • Five years experience as a Construction and Maintenance Electrician. As well as experience with high voltage systems and switchgear, building management control systems, fuels safety/electrical/fire and building codes, operating grounds equipment and large building maintenance; and
  • Valid Class G Driver's License, WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, and AED.
