ASSISTANT DIRECTOR - BEFORE SCHOOL AND/OR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM**PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and child care, for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates in more than 240 schools providing before school, lunch, and after school programs and 30 full-day early learning and child care centres and six EarlyON locations for children from 0 - 6 years.

THE POSITION

  • Maintaining a safe, warm and caring environment in which a highquality extended day program can operate
  • Working collaboratively with other staff to help plan, develop, and implement programs of stimulating age appropriate activities for groups of children. Activities will promote their physical, social, emotional and intellectual wellbeing, in accordance with the _Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA)_, _How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH?)_ and the guidelines established by PLASP for all program components including P.A. Days
  • Supporting the ordering of food for the program, and preparing nutritious breakfast and snacks while adhering to the guidelines of the Canada Food Guide, and in accordance with the rotational snack planner
  • In the Program Director's absence, being responsible for all administration of the program, including registration, recordkeeping, health and safety monitoring and ordering of supplies
  • In the Program Director's absence, operating programs according to the _Ministry of Education (MEDU)_ standards and ensures the CCEYA license is in good standing
  • Participating fully in P.A. Days, by providing safe, reliable care on and off school premises

THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE***- An ECE degree/diploma and be registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE) or have a Child Youth Worker/Care diploma (CYW/CYC) or Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) diploma.

  • A minimum 2 years' experience in child care and community service organization (experience in supervision of staff preferred)
  • Knowledge of the _Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA)_ and _Ministry of Education_ Licensing requirements
  • A valid Standard First Aid Certificate, with level C CPR
  • A valid Criminal Reference Check
  • Vulnerable Sector
  • All health requirements (immunizations) to be met in accordance with the _CCEYA_ and Medical Officer of Health
