About The Position:


The HR Advisor:

  • Provides information to Managers/Directors/PIs, employees and the general public on services, programs and processes as well as answering general HR questions.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures all components of processes related to recruitment, selection and retention are completed

Examples include:

  • Creating postings and routine external advertisements
  • Coaching Managers, Directors & Supervisors on the recruitment process
  • Participating in the interview process
  • Working with clients to implement available retention programs and services aimed at improving work life, recognizing, and retaining employees
  • Participate in the creation and/or revision of RI&D Standard Operating Procedures
  • Provides support in other areas of HR
  • I.e. Performance Management, TimeCapture (Payroll), Resignations/Terminations, etc.

About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Graduate of a post-secondary degree required; graduate of a Human Resources program preferred
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of recent HR work experience required
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) preferred
  • Experience working in unionized and nonunionized environments preferred
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment preferred
  • Effective communication, customer service, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to understand and anticipate the impact of decisions at departmental level
  • Ability to clearly articulate HR policies and processes
  • Self-Starter with welldeveloped organizational and daily planning skills
  • Knowledge of relevant Collective Agreement and employment guide articles and legislation (e.g. NS Labour Standards)
  • Effective work practice accountable, dependable, flexible, persevering, sets goals and meets deadlines, results oriented
  • Maintains strong inter and intradepartmental relationships while maintaining customer and client confidentiality
  • Ability to prioritizes workload, multitasks and work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective conflict resolution and rapportbuilding skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook and human resource information system (preferably MAP, SAP, TimeCapture)
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Successful Applicants are required to provide a criminal record check to Human Resources before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment

Hours of Work:

Permanent, full-time position (75 hours bi-weekly)

Anticipated start date of March 6th, 2023


Salary Information:

$28.05 hourly - $35.06 hourly

$54,697.31 annually - $68,371.29 annually
