Job Summary

  • We are currently seeking Overnight Rehabilitation Therapists responsible for providing supervision and support to individuals with acquired brain injuries (ABIs).This position is based out of our Etobicoke Residential Rehabilitation site, which is a grouphome setting that provides 24 hour care and programming for clients with ABIs and concurrent physical, mental, behavioural, and/or substance use challenges. With provision of comprehensive multidisciplinary programs, clients are engaged in daily functional rehab and meaningful/productive activities.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary studies in social sciences or healthcare related areas
  • G driver's license with a clean driver's abstract, access to a vehicle and the proper insurance to transport clients in own vehicle
  • Availability to work overnights and some holidays. _Please note, this is a parttime position and hours will fluctuate according to client census_
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with individuals with mental health issues, dual diagnoses, behavioural issues, chronic pain, and addictions
  • Conflict resolution skills and ability to work with clients and team members towards solutions, addressing issues such as verbal aggression, physical and environmental aggression, elopement, socially and sexually inappropriate behaviours
  • Willingness to perform medication assistance, administrative tasks, advocating, and clinical therapy implementation
  • Enjoy dealing with people and working in a fastpaced customer service environment, problem solving through difficult situations
  • Strong communication (oral and written) skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle difficult situations in an objective consistent manner
  • Ability to perform bending, stretching and lifting while assisting clients
  • Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team
  • Ability to selfdirect and take direction
  • Ability to stay organized and complete tasks within allocated time frames
  • Commitment to continual learning, upgrading, and enhancing skills

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with individuals with acquired brain injuries while assisting them with increasing levels of independence through individualized rehabilitation programs (responsible for up to 5 clients at a particular time)
  • Follow the designed rehabilitation program as accurately as possible
  • Complete documentation following company and provincial guidelines
  • Utilize appropriate Crisis and Behavioural Management strategies
  • Collect required clinical data through documentation, tracking, etc.
  • Complete research to assist with enhancing client programs
  • Other clinical and administrative duties as assigned
  • Light cleaning as needed
