    Description

    Your Opportunity:

    The Wood Buffalo Addiction and Mental Health Services Team in stunning Fort McMurray requires a Mental Health Therapist to join the dedicated team child & youth service. This role will report to the Manager and day to day support will be provided by a Clinical Supervisor. Your superior communication skills will be used daily as you provide psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. This role will require a person who is energetic, dynamic, and believes in providing the best patient and family centred care in a community context. Located in beautiful Fort McMurray, which resides on Treaty 8 territory, and on the traditional lands of the Metis. Alberta Health Services recognizes that each Indigenous community is diverse in size, culture, and character. Fort McMurray (within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo) is a thriving community with lively social, arts, recreational and cultural opportunities. Located in the heart of Canada's boreal forest with lakes and rivers nearby, along with four provincial parks in the area, it offers a stunning landscape. Fort McMurray is a family-forward city, offering work-life balance and great education to all ages.In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. We may be able to offer temporary (3 months) housing if you are relocating to Fort McMurray for this role, please discuss if selected for interview.

    Description:

    As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

    Required Qualifications:

    Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    PLEASE NOTE: Bachelor's degree in social work with applicable experience may be considered. A registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse with applicable experience may also be considered.
