We are looking for a
Development Manager, Cloud Applications to join our R&D team to help bring new, innovative technologies to the market.


The Position

The
Development Manager, Cloud Applications is part of our R&D team and leads the development of Intellijoint View and its team.

Intellijoint View is our cloud-based surgical planning solution; it enables surgeons to create a patient-specific plan, pre-operatively, that's delivered intra-operatively utilizing Intellijoint Hip and Knee, our surgical navigation products.

We are a cross-functional team of talented individuals, passionate about improving medical outcomes with the technologies we build.

The Team

You will manage an engineering team of 11 team members composed of full stack developers, systems developers, software testers, UI / UX designer and co-op students.

This role will lead all aspects of people and organizational management, fostering a culture that is aligned with IJS values.

You will work in partnership with View's Product Manager, your team, other engineering leaders and Quality & Regulatory Affairs to grow, develop and deliver Intellijoint View.

As a
_snapshot, _we are looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about developing innovative cloud-based medical technology_ (experience in medical devices is a plus)_
  • Is experienced in leading product development from conception through all phases of development
  • Is passionate about people leadership with previous experience or seeking a people leader role to stepinto the next stage of their career

Main Duties:

Product Development Leadership:


  • Work crossfunctionally with View's Product Manager to define a balanced product roadmap for Intellijoint View
  • Craft development and technical strategies (how, when, who) and communicate those strategies to stakeholders to both align and achieve View's product roadmap
  • Manage release cycles leading a crossdepartmental project team from planning to delivery ensuring scope, quality and schedule are delivered effectively

People Leadership:


  • Lead a crossfunctional team of fullstack developers, systems developers, software testers, UI/UX designers and coop students on all components of people management including hiring, mentoring, career development, retention, goal setting and performance
  • Foster Intellijoint's values to build on the collaborative, inquisitive, engaged (and fun) culture within the team
  • Keep your team aligned and engaged with the goals of the product roadmap; be a multiplier on the team's output and be accountable for team goals

Process Leadership:


  • Identify opportunities and drive continuous improvements of development and delivery processes, infrastructure and tools
  • Ensure development of Intellijoint View remains in compliance with our quality and regulatory requirements

Skills and Experience to Enable Success:

  • 5+ years of experience related to product development and engineering
  • Experience with, and interest in, people management; whether that be indirect _e.g. team lead, project manager_ or direct _e.g. development manager, engineering manager_
  • Previous experience in taking a product through all phases of development; from ideation, to market deployment and further evolving the product
  • Strong understanding of agile development methodologies
  • Medical device knowledge and background is not required, however, highly desirable
