Required Duties and Responsibilities:

Without restricting the generality of the above-stated basic function, the Applications Support Specialist shall perform such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned including but not restricted to the following:

Primary Duties Operational Management

  • Maintain software updates, knowledgebase articles, frequently asked questions, and training resources.
  • Provide support to schools with respect to reporting and data entry in the school division's student information systems.
  • Assist in the maintenance of data within the SIS and assessment database as well as assisting with the development, analysis and reporting of the information gleaned from the data.
  • Perform electronic data transfers and data validation of student information to the
Saskatchewan Student Data System

  • Perform electronic data transfers from SIS to various 3rd Party software used by the
Division

  • Support HR with Educator Profile data submissions
  • Attend Ministry meetings regarding data collection and data submission and liaise with the various Ministry departments
  • Attend user group meetings to collaborate and communicate with other school divisions
  • Attend SIS Management User Group meetings (SMUG) to collaborate and communicate with other school divisions
  • Saskatchewan Ministry Student Data System (SDS) security administrator for Regina
Catholic School Division

Strategy and Planning

  • Review training materials and documentation and keep them up to date.
  • Remain current regarding advancements in student information and assessment systems to make recommendations
  • Other duties as assigned as assigned by the Applications Manager

Education/Experience Preference will be given to an individual holding a college diploma or university degree in the


Level Required technology field and/or three plus years of equivalent work experience.


Skills Required The Applications Support Specialist will:

  • Have an understanding of school office workflow including experience utilizing a student information system would be an asset
  • Possess extensive knowledge of division SIS
  • Have understanding of databases and report writer to generate data as required
  • Have basic understanding of SQL server
  • Have ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with a broadcross section of individuals, both internally and externally to the organization as it relates to this position
