    De Beers Group has an exciting opportunity for a Data Analyst to join the Mining department on contract until December 31st, 2025, that will include vacation entitlement, benefits and bonus opportunity. Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer and working a Monday to Friday schedule, this is a key role to support digital transformation at Gahcho Kue Mine. This is a home office-based position reporting into the Calgary Support Centre OR Yellowknife Office with adhoc travel to the remote mine site.   • Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with programmers, engineers and organizational leaders to identify process improvement opportunities, recommend system changes and develop data governance policies.
  • Mine large amounts of raw data to analyze field quality trends and emerging/hidden issues posing risk to performance or hindering improvements.
  • Create reports and presentations that effectively article a problem statement, analysis and provide recommendations on solutions.
  • Analyze data for mine performance and cost initiatives, including investigations on root cause analysis with recommendations for solutions.
  • Employ statistical techniques to scrutinize the data and produce actionable business insights.
  • Develop data visualizations, charts, and dashboards to support decision making across departments.
  • Cleanse and prepare dataset such as filtering data and handling missing values for analysis to ensure accuracy and relevancy.
  • Review raw data, detect data quality issues, provide feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Write scripts that can be used to extract and manipulate data from source databases.
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in data science, Engineering or equivalent;
  • 3-5 years' experience in a data analyst role or equivalent;
  • Possess a solid foundation in statistics and practical experience with statistical software and mastery in data analysis languages such as SQL;
  • Demonstrate superior communication and presentation capabilities, adept at simplifying complex data insights for audiences without a technical background;
  • Ability to work remote & effectively collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders and build customized solutions that fit their need;
  • Planning, time management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to combine theory and practical hands-on approach; and
  • Capabible of critically evaluating data to derive meaningful and actionable insights.
  • Beneficial if you have:

  • Advanced skills in SQL, Power BI, visual basic, databases;
  • Knowledge of the mining industry including extraction, processing, and enabling functions; and
  • Experience with modular mining or other fleet management systems in a mining application.
