    As a new Recreation Team Member joining our Village, you will:

    Support and embrace our resident-centered social culture and be proud to deliver the highest quality of recreational programing to our residents. You will work as key members of our Village and neighbourhood multidisciplinary teams to understand residents' individual needs, and advocate for residents to actively participate in decisions about their care.

    Recreation Team Members at Schlegel Villages foster exemplary relationships with residents, their families and the Village team to deliver holistic care that focusses on flexible living and quality of life.

    Recreation Team Members assist our residents by the planning and implementing programs that contribute to a resident's holistic health care goals, as outlined in Care Plans (including RAI MDS-Raps, Coding and Activities Initial Assessment), by encouraging physical, emotional, spiritual, social and cognitive growth for residents.

    To be successful as our new Recreation Team Member, you will:

  • Be enrolled in/completed diploma or degree recreation/leisure studies and/or gerontology from a community college or university
  • CPR/FIRST AID
  • Food Handler Certificate
  • SmartServe
  • Knowledge of the five domains in Therapeutic Recreation that contribute to an individual's health
  • Be excited by our objectives, our Village philosophy and the family values that shape all aspects of life in a Schlegel Village
  • Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members

    It would be an asset if our new Recreation Team Member has:

  • Knowledge of recreational therapy practices, methods, techniques and opportunities to improve resident's well-being and holistic health
  • An understanding of the relevant sections of the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007
