THE POSITION

This position will ensure the timely and accurate processing of high-volume semi-monthly payrolls, in compliance with legislative requirements and will provide support to the Payroll and Human Resources Departments.

The Payroll Specialist completes meticulous work within our cloud based HCM platform, UKG Pro and ERP accounting software, Microsoft Dynamics GP.

This position reports to the Supervisor, Payroll and Benefits.


ACCOUNTABILITIES

Payroll Processing

  • Lead processing and administration of semimonthly payrolls for salaried paid employee groups.
  • Process manual payments.
  • Audit all employee changes and payroll updates from the HR Admin team for payroll processing.
  • Provide reconciliation and analysis of all payroll changes as required.
  • Provide payroll balancing backup to Supervisor, Payroll and Benefits for approval.
  • Reconcile payroll related accounts as well as prepare and complete remittances.
  • Prepare debt recoveries garnishes and 3rd party demands.
  • Review Sports Contracts relating to items for processing in conjunction with the HR and Payroll team.
  • Provide payroll related reporting to the business as required.
  • Crosstrain with the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator on hourly payroll employees)
  • Crosstrain on payroll accounting including monthend.
  • Actively participate in safety programs and follow polices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Provide support on monthly benefit billing and payments in conjunction with the Supervisor, Payroll and Benefits.
  • Reconcile payroll related accounts as well as prepare and complete remittances.
  • Crosstrain on benefit enrollments, terminations, and salary changes.
  • Crosstrain on RRSP enrollment, terminations, and adjustments.

THE INDIVIDUAL

  • 58+ years' experience in the fullcycle payroll process and payroll accounting
  • Strong background in processing high volume payrolls.
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment.
  • PCP Designation is considered a strong asset.
  • Proficiency with cloud based HCM systems, preference for UKG Pro experience.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Must have strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, while maintaining relationships with all employees.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, time management and execution skills.
  • Must possess a positive "can do" attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing needs of the organization.
