    Dispute Resolution Specialist Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Dispute Resolution Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Claims department, you will represent Co-operators and CUMIS in disputes at the License Appeal Tribunal (LAT) in Ontario.

    Your primary responsibility will be to negotiate and settle claim disputes, while coaching claims representatives in the dispute response process. You will work independently within your authority to identify issues, exposures and strategies for resolution at mediation.

    • You will prepare claim files for case conference, including identifying issues, exposures and strategies for resolution at mediation and create the Case Conference Summary.
    • You will collaborate with staff on assignment of defense legal counsel and act as a liaison with external counsel when necessary.

    To succeed in this role, you must have an innovative mindset to improve operational efficiencies. You should be able to use critical thinking skills to recognize assumptions evaluate arguments draw conclusions proactively propose solutions. Additionally,you need strong communication skills clearly convey messages explore diverse points view build trusting relationships provide guidance support development colleagues.
    The ideal candidate has :



    • A minimum of 5 years successful claims handling experience related discipline progressively developing complexity including experience legal complex claims Accident Benefits Ontario

    • Mastery negotiation extensive experience successfully resolvingclaimsAccident BenefitsOntarioFCIP designation or DisputeResolutiondesignation pursuing further development

    • Expert knowledge legislation regulations legal system dispute resolution practices applicable caselaw university/college degree appropriate certifications required qualifications supplemented by extensive training professionaldevelopment experiences expand skillsets industry requirements."
