Sarens Canada is currently recruiting for a Transport Manager based out of our Alberta office. This is a full-time permanent position reporting to the Country Manager.

As a Transportation Manager, your roles and responsibilities will include:

Planning, developing, organizing, directing and evaluating the operations and budget of the transportation division, including traditional and heavy transportation.
Directing the activities of staff in relation to transportation operations, including dispatching, routing and tracking transportation vehicles.
Developing and communicating transportation policies and procedures.
Monitoring operations to ensure that staff comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, union contracts and government regulations.
Managing the annual CVIP program
Preventative maintenance of equipment
Manage permit process and develop route studies
Developing key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of transportation operations.
Directing investigations to verify and resolve customer complaints.
Coaching, training, managing and appraising the performance of transportation personnel.
Developing and maintaining the constructive and cooperative working relationships, both internally and externally.
Preparing management recommendations, such as proposed fee and tariff increases or schedule changes.
Recommending capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment or property to increase efficiency and services of transportation operations.
Participating in union negotiations and settlement of grievances, where applicable.
Maintaining an open dialogue with other division managers, both locally and internationally, to coordinate activities and improve performance and productivity.
At least 5 years of experience in a transportation coordination role and more than five years of experience in a transportation manager role.
Must have experience in traditional transportation and with Hydraulic Platform trailers and Self-Propelled Modular Trailers.
Experience procuring equipment.
Experience working in a unionized environment.
Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English.
Familiarity with the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
A willingness to travel up to 20%.
