Sarens Canada is currently recruiting for a Transport Manager based out of our Alberta office. This is a full-time permanent position reporting to the Country Manager.


As a Transportation Manager, your roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, developing, organizing, directing and evaluating the operations and budget of the transportation division, including traditional and heavy transportation.
  • Directing the activities of staff in relation to transportation operations, including dispatching, routing and tracking transportation vehicles.
  • Developing and communicating transportation policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring operations to ensure that staff comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, union contracts and government regulations.
  • Managing the annual CVIP program
  • Preventative maintenance of equipment
  • Manage permit process and develop route studies
  • Developing key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of transportation operations.
  • Directing investigations to verify and resolve customer complaints.
  • Coaching, training, managing and appraising the performance of transportation personnel.
  • Developing and maintaining the constructive and cooperative working relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Preparing management recommendations, such as proposed fee and tariff increases or schedule changes.
  • Recommending capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment or property to increase efficiency and services of transportation operations.
  • Participating in union negotiations and settlement of grievances, where applicable.
  • Maintaining an open dialogue with other division managers, both locally and internationally, to coordinate activities and improve performance and productivity.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a transportation coordination role and more than five years of experience in a transportation manager role.
  • Must have experience in traditional transportation and with Hydraulic Platform trailers and Self-Propelled Modular Trailers.
  • Experience procuring equipment.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English.
  • Familiarity with the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • A willingness to travel up to 20%.

Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent


Pay:
$160,000.00-$180,000.00 per year
