    Reporting to the Manager of Tourism, Culture & Sport, the Tourism Marketing Coordinator will support the implementation of the Discover Brantford Marketing Plan and is responsible for the creation of several key information vehicles and strategic marketing programs. The Tourism Marketing Coordinator will monitor and make recommendations on the annual Division advertising budget; respond to advertising sales calls; secure local and external positive media exposure; implement a comprehensive Travel Writer/Media program including working with the Travel Media Association of Canada; and develop timely media releases. Other duties include liaising with local tourism businesses and developing collaborative marketing campaigns; coordinating ongoing maintenance and content management for the Discover Brantford website; creating regular blog posts; creating and distributing e-newsletters and social media marketing programs.

    Qualifications

  • Three (3) year community college program in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in the tourism industry is required.
  • Superior written, oral and visual communication skills including experience in copy writing, editing documents, writing for the web, public speaking, and effectively managing the media.
  • Current knowledge and experience in the development of communication tools including web-based applications and social media marketing.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer programs, especially Microsoft Office Suite, is required.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in the implementation of Communications Plans, Project Management, and Sales & Marketing would be an asset.
  • Exceptional customer service and ability to work successfully in teams is a requirement
  • A valid "G" Ontario driver's licence in good standing throughout the course of employment

  • Light physical demand
  • Valid Driver's License and use of a personal vehicle is required
  • As a condition of employment, proof of current and valid certificate(s) and/or educational qualifications will be required.
