Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Inventory and Logistics Analyst is accountable for optimizing warehouse inventory levels utilizing the company's ERP system by analyzing inventory in terms of actual and forecast inventory levels, usage, re-order points and quantities, and identifying obsolete items.
This position is also responsible for commercial activities associated with the Salvage Yard and supervisory relief duties for the warehousing function.
This role is in the welcoming community of Trail, situated in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia.

- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Utilize ERP system to forecast inventory usage and stock levels
- Understand total cost of inventory and integrate logistic opportunities into overall inventory management
- Review warehouse inventory to ensure the proper quantity of inventory is being replenished at the time of reorder
- Review credit report and cancel purchases if appropriate
- Identify and delete warehouse items no longer required by the plants
- Assess fast track (direct expense) items to determine if they should be added to inventory
- Conduct ABC analysis of the warehouse inventory
- Participate in the negotiation of returning excess inventory to suppliers
- Monitor the onhand availability of critical inventory items
- Conduct analysis of inventory to 'right size' it
- Seek plant reorder approval of higher value warehouse items
- Identify and investigate inventory reduction opportunities
- Oversee the disposal of recyclable material
- Obtain bids for scrap metal and arrange shipments accordingly
- Perform credit checks on potential scrap metal buyers
Qualifications:
- Business Administration Diploma or BBA Degree (Accounting/Finance major is preferred)
- Completion or enrolment in the Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) Designation Program
- Experience working with Purchasing/Warehousing modules of an ERP system
- Strong mathematical, cost analysis and analytical skills required
- Knowledge of Teck Metals Ltd. warehouse procedures is preferred
- Previous inventory analysis and management experience is required
