Owen Sound Highway Maintenance has immediate openings for Snow Plow Operators. The winter maintenance season runs yearly from October until April, weather dependent. As a Winter Works Plow Operator, You Will:
The safe and efficient operation of the spreader, plow wing, combo unit or tow to perform the clearing of local roads as per the contract requirements
Maintain accurate documentation including but not limited to, fuel reports, safety reports and hours of service
Maintain/clean equipment and conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs as required
Operate specialized equipment, including winter equipment, as trained and as required
Carry out road maintenance activities, facility maintenance and yard maintenance as required
What You'll Bring:
Valid DZ or AZ license with a clean driver's abstract and ability to drive manual transmission
Previous experience in winter works operations, considered an asset
Ability to operate winter combination units
Available to respond to callin times within thirty minutes
Ability to remain flexible with shift schedules, and extended hours (evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays)
Have mechanical knowledge and ability to perform minor repairs as required
Appreciation for a high level of efficient and quality work
Effective communication (written and verbal)
Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions
Willingness to learn and appreciate company values
