Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
- extensive academic training and post graduate coursework in the following areas: students with special needs; assessment/testing theory and practice (Level B); strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum
- demonstrated experience and ability in being able to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum-based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods, administration and interpretation of Level B Assessments including the WIAT, PPVT, Key Math and TOWL
- demonstrated experience in and knowledge of methods for evaluating and selecting instructional materials suitable for students with a variety of special needs and learning disabilities
- knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of IEPs in consultation with the classroom teacher(s), parent(s), student, and district personnel
- extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment
- demonstrated ability to co-ordinate and manage a preparation time schedule that requires excellent classroom management, organizational skills, and communication skills
- demonstrated effective ability in selecting, modifying, and adapting Fine Arts and or technology materials to meet the needs of diverse groups of students Grades K knowledge of and demonstrated ability in addressing the wide range of academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of children
- demonstrated effective experience working as part of a collaborative School-Based Team
- commitment and willingness to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and administration in order to support all students through an RTI system and student-centered model
- demonstrated ability and proven experience using effective assessment practices to guide individualized instruction
- demonstrated ability and proven experience of excellent behavioural management and organizational skills
- knowledge of and commitment to support PBS and school-wide initiatives
- demonstrated ability to co-ordinate and manage a complex schedule that requires flexibility and excellent organizational and communication skills
- commitment to becoming involved and positively contributing to the culture of the school
- evidence of personal initiative and strong work ethic, with a proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as an effective team member
- successful experience using technology as an instructional tool
