The Opportunity


The TOMS Governance and Reporting team is looking for a Team Lead to help lead the governance of TC Energy's Operational Management System through the TOMS Transformation Project and on to long-term sustainment.

The position is located in Calgary, AB, Houston, TX or Charleston, WV.

As the team lead of the TOMS Governance team, you will be responsible for the following:


  • Leading a team of specialists who facilitate the TOMS governance process, which includes engaging with stakeholders across the company to develop, sustain, and continuously improve the operational management system.
  • Stewarding enterprisewide reporting for all of the TOMS elements, which includes developing and maintaining dashboards, scorecards, and reports that provide insight into the performance and maturity of the management system.
  • Identifying management system continuous improvement opportunities, which includes analyzing assessment data, benchmarking, and best practice research to support the evolution and enhancement of TOMS.
  • Collaborating with other teams in STS and the business units to ensure alignment and integration of the management system across the company.
To be successful in this role, you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Strong people leadership skills, which include coaching, mentoring, developing, and empowering your team members to deliver high-quality results and foster a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Facilitation skills, which include the ability to design and deliver effective and engaging workshops, meetings, and presentations to various audiences and levels of the organization.
  • Change management skills, which include the ability to anticipate, manage, and support change initiatives and communicate the value and benefits of TOMS to the business.
  • Systemsbased thinking, which include the ability to understand and analyze complex and interrelated processes, systems, and issues and identify root causes and solutions.
  • Agility, which includes the ability to adapt to changing priorities, situations, and demands and respond with flexibility and resilience.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ten years of experience in high hazard industry (e.g., oil & gas, petrochemical, etc.), with a strong preference for frontline operations experience.
  • Five years of operational management system experience, either in a governance or implementation role.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous leadership experience in a relevant field, such as operational excellence, quality management, risk management, or business process management.
  • Experience in continuous improvement or process improvement methodologies, such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
  • Certification in project management, change management, adult learning, and continuous improvement
