    Your role within the team:

    To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Work with the Procurement Manager to develop and implement systems and processes to manage all elements of the Subcontract Management functions including, but not limited to Drafting and implementation of Management Plans, Processes and Procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company's Procurements policy, standards and requirements, the Construction Act and at law.
  • Work with internal client to prepare and issue Request for Proposal (RFP) for various type of packages, including engineering services, construction works and supply of equipment.
  • Evaluate proposals and negotiate with bidders and potential vendors to obtain best value-for-money when selecting, recommending and awarding contracts.
  • Ensure strong strategic and proactive management of downstream Subcontracts including, but not limited to:Raise Subcontract commitment and change orders in the project management system, manage hold-back and bonding and receipt progress claim values.Ensure all commercial correspondence is timely and professional.Working with the Quality, Safety and Completions Teams to ensure all non-commercial requirements under the Subcontracts are met (As-Builts, Quality Documentation, defect rectification etc.)Attendance at Subcontractor meetings and be responsible for issuing and filing all minutes of meeting on Subcontractor record.Assess Subcontractor progress claims/proper invoices and ensure assessment is completed and paid in accordance with the Construction Act.Compile accruals and work with the Project Controls Team to finalize the monthly Project forecast reviews.Support the Procurement Manager and Prime Contract Manager with compilation and management of any external dispute resolution process if required (adjudication, arbitration, litigation)
  • Train and mentor the Contract Administrators on best-practice Subcontract management.

  • The ideal candidate:

  • 10+ years' related experience in Senior Contract Administration, Quantity Surveying, Project Management or Contracts Management.
  • Experience in large, complex, civil construction projects is essential and experience with electrical, mechanical and trackwork is of benefit.
  • Possess strong commercial acumen, and proficiency in drafting concise, accurate, professional correspondence.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work proactively in a large and diverse team.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting contract requirements in various contract formats and a strong understanding of the Construction Act and Ontario Law.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills .
