Purpose:


Accountable to the Associate Director, Information & Learning Technology, at the Schulich School of Business (SSB), the Manager, Learning Technology role works in partnership with Schulich Information Services and Technology (IS&T) colleagues and academic support staff to deliver high quality front-line technology support to faculty, graduate students, researchers, and staff to integrate learning technology tools and services effectively into teaching, learning, research, and administrative milieu.

The Manager role contributes to the development and implementation of the learning technology strategic plan, research new learning and educational technologies, evaluates applicability to university activities, and manages the development and deployment of these technologies with academic and administrative units.


Education:

A University degree in a relevant discipline, such as Education, Communications, Computer Science, or Instructional Design.


Experience:

Five (5) years of related learning technology implementation and support experience.
Relevant experience in implementing successful technology-enhanced learning, both instructor-led and self-study.
Thorough knowledge and experience with adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
Advanced familiarity with a variety of learning management systems.
Three (3) years of management experience.


Skills:

Able to initiate, develop, and manage a wide variety of long-term and short-term projects.
Proficient at juggling multiple, competing responsibilities, and motivating and mobilizing a team around shared goals.
Communicate effectively with and translate technology and pedagogy requirements/needs between faculty, technologists, and administrators.
Effective presentation skills.
Effective interpersonal skills including leadership, flexibility, discretion, diplomacy, tact, judgment, and integrity, strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
Able to follow through on complex and lengthy projects.
Proficient in a variety of authoring, web development and digital media tools, to deliver interactive and engaging e-learning content.

Advanced web production skills for needs analysis, design, development, and deployment of learning technology deliverables, including enabling clients to self-create custom content for teaching and learning.

Compensation:


York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.

Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
