The Fort St John Association for Community Living (FSJACL) is a non-profit agency which has been providing quality supports to adults with developmental disabilities in Fort St John and district since 1960. The FSJACL is an accredited agency with a trained, caring and trusted professional team of over 70 employees who provide quality services and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities and complex needs. The FSJACL works collaboratively with community partners to achieve our vision of inclusion for all.

  • 2023 Budget $6.5 million, with over 70 staff members, 62 years of established non
- profit social service delivery.

  • Services to Fort St. John and district, the largest city in Northeastern BC located on the famous Alaska Highway.
  • Funding for our programming is received through federal, provincial, and private organizations and foundations. These include Community Living British Columbia (CLBC), BC Housing and the Ministry of Public Safety.
  • Reporting to this role are the Finance Manager, HR and Administration Manager, Residential Program Manager, Inclusion and Employment Program Manager and OfficeCoordinator.
  • Annual fundraising community events include: Of the Vine, Hero Dash, Golf Tournament, AGM and Awards Gala.

Summary
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is the Fort St.

John Association for Community Living's senior manager, responsible for overseeing all operations of the society including Program Delivery, Operations, Human Resources and Finance.

The CEO ensures a high standard of client-based programs are delivered and maintained as well as promoting the Association's activities through contact with clients, business organizations, government agencies and the general public.


Strategic Development

  • Continue to expand the vision of the Association with innovative ideas to develop services to clients and their families.
  • Lead the mission and guiding principles of the organization and its purpose of providing quality operational service to our clients and families.
  • Oversee, direct and control the longterm, general and day to day operations, administration and facility management of the FSJACL.
  • Work with the Board of Directors to implement the longterm strategic plan and oversee major project initiatives.

Leadership and Service Delivery

  • Maintain effective management of staff and department leadership to ensure best practices and compliance with ongoing development of all employees.
  • Work closely with union representatives, to uphold all stakeholder relations.
  • Lead fundraising, funding and community events to raise awareness of the Association and the benefits it brings to the community.
  • Work closely as a partner with clients and families to understand their individual needs.
  • Connect with families and clients to understand care required.
  • Maintain CARF accreditation.
  • Oversite of available services, legal, contractual while implementing the Guiding Principles of the Association.

Project Development

  • Dream big and constantly think about what is next for the Association in developing special projects that require crossfunctional engagement with key staff across the organization, external stakeholders and other nonprofit organizations.
  • Continue to develop plans for the new Youth Treatment Center, to be located on a local farm, which will include: 21 staff (admin and finance, clinical director, nurse supervisor, LPN, addictions and lifestyle work, maintenance team, etc.).
  • Land acquisition for future building projects.
  • Continue to build a multidisciplinary regional support team.

Financial Management

  • Oversee all finance, regulatory and compliance measures for the Association.
  • Oversee and ensure risk management strategies are sufficient to protect the agency, employees and/or volunteers from liability and other claims. Oversee all professional licensing or other accreditation requirements are in place to satisfy legal, regulatory and other requirements.
  • Lead grant administration and source funding opportunities.

The Fun Stuff

  • Partner to develop additional programming, with the BC Arts Council
  • Indigenous carving and food programs, Inclusion BC Employment program, farming and multicultural programs.
  • Lead and participate in our fun community events, such as Of the Vine, Hero Dash, Golf Tournament, AGM and Awards Gala, multicultural meal sharing, etc.
  • Meet clients and their families to see the difference our Association makes in their lives.
