Health and Safety Trainer

Location:9094 Cavanagh Road (Ashton, Ontario)

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Prepare for, organize and conduct handson, participatory health and safety training educational sessions that introduce workers to resources and rights they can use to identify, prevent and address health and safety concerns.
  • Lead safety training modules, hands on demonstrations, verification and testing of safe and proper use of equipment and monitoring the effectiveness of the training.
  • Develop proficiency in the understanding, use of and maintenance of equipment used in training courses as well as equipment, devices, and supplies.

Additional responsibilities will include:


  • Achieve and maintain appropriate professional credentials and certifications.
  • Participate in course & trainer evaluation.
  • Participate in curriculum development and revision for in person and online training courses. This includes course materials such as manuals, computerbased training, audio visual, and other training aids, and instructors' guides.

Qualifications:


  • Excellent facilitation, written and oral communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience providing training to workers and adult learners, using popular education/interactive
- approaches

  • Experience in and strong commitment to workers' rights and unions
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups
  • Experience with environmental or health & safety organizations a plus

Requirements:

A degree in a related field and/or five years practical and training experience

Must possess a valid driver license and have a means of transportation to various training locations.
