What will you do?

Dream is looking to hire a creative and energetic Manager, Development Accounting to take to oversee a very exciting and diverse portfolio of Urban Development projects and Income Properties and manage our Development Accounting team.

Below are some of the primary responsibilities you will be taking on in this role. There will be more, but we can discuss those in person.

  • Oversee the overall accounting and financial operations cycle for the portfolio, including highrisk transactions and journal entries, trial balance review, budgettoactual analysis, accounts payable, construction draw processing, capital calls and distributions, job costing, inventory, sales and costs of sales recognition, accounts receivable etc. from the setup to the closeout of each project;
  • Manage IT and financial reporting systems, oversee the general ledger and reports, design processes and reports to facilitate efficient operations and reporting, and oversee their implementation;
  • Lead, manage, provide training and mentorship to the accounting team members;
  • Oversee the accounting for each project including review of journal entries, reconciliations, working paper files and variance analyses of actuals vs. budget etc., as well as overall reasonability of accounting records to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial information;
  • Manage the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and yearend financial reporting packages for the portfolio projects for Senior Management and our JV partners;
  • Assist in the preparation of supporting schedules and continuities for quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and note disclosures;
  • Coordinate quarterly reviews and yearend audits with external auditors, ensure compliance with the financial reporting requirements of our JV partners as well as with regulatory requirements;
  • Assist with the budgeting and quarterly forecasting process for all the portfolio projects;
  • Participate in operational meetings with internal and external stakeholders and provide support to adjacent team as needed, such as the development team and the accounts payable function;

What type of experience and skills do you have?

  • CPA with a minimum of 5 years postqualification experience, of which at least 2 years are at a supervisory level
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, IFRS (a definite asset), experience in construction / development accounting and consolidations an asset
  • Understanding of various joint business arrangements (JV, partnerships etc.);
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with JD Edwards is a definite asset
