Job Summary:


Under the combined and general supervision of the Provincial Cancer Referral Team Coordinator and Navigation Service Provincial Navigation Lead, the Referral Clerk is responsible for the processing of referrals received at CancerCare Manitoba.


The Referral Clerk compiles demographic and medical information necessary for electronic chart creation and referral triage, assigning, and appointment scheduling for patients requiring outpatient consultation at CancerCare Manitoba and/or inpatient consultation.

In carrying out their duties, the Referral Clerk will communicate and collaborate with the Navigation Services team, Referral Office team, multidisciplinary care team, referring community and patients.


Qualifications:


Required

  • Successful completion of a recognized Health Unit Clerk course.
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience preparing charts, scheduling appointments, and communicating with patient and family members in an ambulatory multidisciplinary setting
  • Experience utilizing an electronic health record
  • Strong understanding of patientcentered care
  • Satisfactory employment record
  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • Will be assessed during the interview process:_
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to adapt to stressful work situations.
  • Will be assessed during testing:_
  • Proficient medical terminology (70% pass rate)

Preferred

  • Experience in Oncology
  • Familiarity with CancerCare Manitoba referral process, triage concepts and Disease Site Groups

Asset

  • Ability to speak French

Note:
Proof of successful completion of English 40S or other proof of English language competency may be required during the selection process
